Roger is from Manresa, Catalonia, and is now our nearest neighbour in Pubol. Before starting his own sought-after catering company five years ago, he was trained at the Joviat Hostelry School in Manresa. He worked in event and banquet catering, in several restaurants, then got his break with Jordi Garrido, multi-starred chef, and at the time, Executive Chef at the nearby Relais et Chateaux Hotel Mas de Torrent. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, cheffing haute-cuisine, in a Michelin-starred kitchen described as “an outstanding gastronomic landmark championing the gastronomy of the Empordà region”. This passion for this region’s culinary bounty has stuck with Roger, and his interest in healthy, traditional mediterranean nutrition jives beautifully with the sustainability and gastronomy aspirations of La Bruguera. Roger travels annually, spending time around Europe, Asia and South America, absorbing knowledge, ingredients and techniques to bring back to Catalonia, where he also teaches cuisine at the Alt Emporda School of Hostelry.
