Women’s cycling sontinues to grow and now with increased media coverage, and higher wages at the Women’s World Tour, it is heading in an optimistic direction. However, there is still a disparity in the support for women’s cycling and we are committed to doing what we can to support women’s cycling at all levels.

For the past three years we have supported local UCI Continental Team Massi-Tactic, and as they move on with a new cash sponsor in the form of a hotel group, we wish them all the best for the future. We are so happy to have contributed to the growth in riders and wins of the team for those three years – this is exactly how we see the potential help small in-kind sponsors can give: a leg up to find bigger sponsors.

Going forward, we’re committed to supporting even more women’s cycling teams across different levels. We’ll be sponsoring Canadian UCI Continental Team InstaFund, U.K. Elite Development Team Bianchi HUNT Morvelo, and Elite Catalan Team Catema.Cat-Baix Ter (the sister/feeder squad of Massi-Tactic).

It has been a dream of ours at La Bruguera to use our passion and energy to improve the women’s side of our beautiful sport, and we have never kept quiet about our disappointment at the harsh inequalities between genders in cycling.

InstaFund is the first professional team to go zero-single-use plastic, and for 2022 will be striving to be zero carbon! InstaFund is committed to creating less waste, and being low impact. We’re excited to be working with such a forward-thinking team when it comes to environmentalism, and excited to see them hit it off road and on the road this season. Our very own Freya Rawlins

is racing for the InstaFund Dirt Squad this year, and has already kicked it off with multiple podium spots, and a top 10 at one of Girona’s most prestigious gravel races! (Which she did on a mountain bike..)

Bianchi HUNT Morvélo is an established women’s Elite team, who were awarded one of 5 Elite DEvelopment Team rankings by British Cycling last year. They compete nationally and internationally. A small and awesome team, they have put a lot of thinking and effort into creating a fantastic team environment with mentoring pathways and a real closeknit feel, we are proud to be helping them on their development journey. We’re stoked to see them racing in Belgium, France and the UK this year, taking on UCI Conti and World Tour teams!

Catema.Cat-Baix Ter is the sister development team to Massi-Tactic, so while Massi-Tactic move on from being sponsored by us, we’re glad we can still be a part of the journey in some way, and provide a venue for camps for their up-and-coming riders. They are our local team, and we believe deeply in the power of connecting socially, environmentally and economically into our locality.

La Bruguera de Púbol will be, as it is for so many of our cycling guests, home base for the teams during their training season, from November to February each year. As cycling can be a lonely sport when there are no races, we will provide a base for the teams to come together, and live, eat, train and evolve – developing their skills, tactics and team-spirit.
